What to include in your event content plan

An event lasts a few hours, but its content can work for weeks. Plan the content before the day and you'll get far more value from every event.

What to include in your event content plan

Before the event: build anticipation

Content starts weeks before the doors open:

  • a save-the-date announcement and teaser video;
  • speaker, performer or product reveals;
  • behind-the-scenes clips from preparation; and
  • a countdown in the final week.

Create a shot list

List every moment you need captured, such as arrivals, key speeches, product reveals, guest reactions, branding and sponsor placements, with times from your run-of-show. Share it with your photographers and videographers before the day, so nothing important is missed.

During the event: post while it's live

Assign one person to live coverage only. Post stories, short clips and photos throughout the event, and repost guests who tag your brand. A clear event hashtag and a photo-friendly spot help guests create content for you.

After the event: keep the momentum

Publish a highlight video within a few days, while interest is high. Then turn the footage into a series: speaker clips, quotes, product moments and thank-you posts. Share a photo gallery with guests and partners so they can post too.

Measure what matters

Track attendance, reach and engagement across all event content, plus leads or sales linked to the event. Compare results with your goals and use what you learn to plan the next one.
